A boutique literary press designing and manufacturing books featuring elegant typography in acid-free editions needed an equally-beautiful and intelligent identity. Following their ethos of lucid, accessible literature, the Torpedo Room turned to the art of scansion for the logo. Scansion analyzes a line of poetry for foot and meter. By the typemark incorporating a stressed symbol and unstressed symbol typically found in the art of scansion, the logo speaks to those customers seeking quality literature. It also assuages any confusion on the pronunciation of the name. The gently curving arc below the name refers to the definition of camber, and is seen as a bridge straddling the long period of oblique literature in the 20th Century.
